All knights and members of the Own should now be able to post in War-type areas. If you are unable to do so, please inform either Kayte or Carrie. Also, if your character's birthday is in January, time to age up (and let Kayte know, too!).

If you have a character who did not age as prescribed in the year 200, please make sure you do that as soon as possible. Anyone who has changed age brackets (or aged at all, actually) should inform Kayte immediately, so that she can get the list updated. Also, keep an eye on the announcement forum, as several notices will be going up in near future.

For all you poor cityfolk who don't get to enjoy the palace festivities, The Sleeping Minstrel is holding a midwinter celebration in Upmarket for all those who can attend.
In a short time, Amity proved herself a fun, capable, and interesting roleplayer, gifting us with a variety of unique characters, each obviously having been well thought-out. Naylan is one such creation - he's a falconer, for Mithros' sake. How many of those did we have milling about? But I digress. Naylan, like his creator, is more than enjoyable to have around the city - and the palace - and so I'm happy to feature them both.

Character Journals Chronic gossips often elect to write down juicy tidbits, lest they get in trouble for spreading them; shy folk often find ink and parchment a preferable alternative to confiding in a human being. Should, for whatever reason, a journal be important to your character, the option is here for you.
Highfields Situated above Prettybone, the Highfields district of Corus is neither well-off, nor badly-off. Catering to those with some money, but not enough to buy their way into one of the city's nicer areas, Highfields is a tolerable, if not completely desirable, place to live and conduct business. Prettybone Located between Highfields and the River Olorun, this slightly upscale district of the city boasts a large marketplace and reasonably attractive, if usually cramped, living spaces.
Flash Like Prettybone, this is a slightly upscale district of the city, though it does see more in the way of marketplace scams. Best known for a large, reasonably well-kept park at its center, an unusual amount of green space for an inner-city area that is neither the Common, nor the Palace, Flash lies along the southern bank of the River Olorun, north of Unicorn and Patten, and east of the Lower City Subforums: Flash Kennel
Patten One of the city's more fashionable districts, Patten is a well-to-do area and home to various merchants and citizens of high esteem. Surrounded by Flash, the Lower City, Upmarket, and Unicorn, the district's dwellings are comfortable, and residents live with a reasonable sense of security.
Unicorn The most prestigious district in the city, Unicorn lies to the east of Patten and Upmarket, and to the south of Flash. As upscale as a citizen can get without relocating to the palace, the high-security (which over time has led to the lowest crime rate in Corus) area is as fashionable as it is pricey.
Temple District While Tortall is hardly known for it's architectural masterpieces, Corus's Temple District is one of the better-kept of the Eastern Lands, a fact that is well-known to the gods. Subforums: Mithros' Temple,
Temple of the Great Mother Goddess
The Lower City Being the poorest district in Corus has also made the Lower City the most crime-ridden in the city, and few higher-paying job opportunities make becoming well-off enough to move elsewhere a rarity. Still, to many commoners, 'The Cesspool' is home, and they make do. Subforums: The Court of the Rogue,

Dining Areas The classes do not dine together, nor does the royal family spend all mealtimes with their court. Because of this, the palace has several different dining areas. Subforums: State Banquet Hall,

Library The palace has more than its share of libraries, however its largest, and most impressive, lies in an outbuilding and is the favored destination for scholars and avid readers. Consisting of four stories, three are filled with shelving, and the ground floor consists of small workspaces, administrative areas, and a small lounge.
Gardens The palace gardens, while not the most practical use of such large expanses of space, are quite remarkable. Carefully designed by mages gifted in that area, the impressive green space is one where anyone would like to spend a sunny day.
Training Yards The perfect location for pages and squires to improve their skills, and for knights to keep skills already gained sharp. There are several yards - some smaller ones ideal for sparring, some longer ones best suited for jousting and archery, and some that are just larger in general, best suited for group training.
The Stables The horses in the palace stables serve countless purposes. Some pull carriages, others are used by the pages, or are the mounts of knights, and more still belong to noble residents or guests. To accommodate such a large number, the stables actually consist of three separate buildings, with a large staff of grooms and stablehands.
Chapel of the Ordeal This is the building that makes knights. At midwinter of their fourth year as squires, youngsters come here and sit an evening vigil. Within it lies the Chamber of the Ordeal, where squires must face their fears in silence to become knights, or die trying.
The Royal University Tortall's grandest of universities has made a name for itself over the years as a prime location for the training of healers and scholars, magical innovations, and research.
Tortall The country of Tortall is not limited to it's capital alone; composed of everything from sea coast, do deep forest, to mountainous regions, to desert, the large country has ample fiefs, cities, and wilderness. Subforums: The Royal Forests,

Carthak The southern country of Carthak lies on the other side of the Great Inland Sea, its capital, Thak's Gate, lying on the banks of the Zekoi River. Its climate is a warm one, humid in the rain forests and dry in the deserts.
Carthak is ruled by an Emperor, and its patron goddess is the Graveyard Hag
The Barzunni/Tortallan Conflict It seems trying that, so soon after the completion of war with the Yamani Islands, Tortall would once again ask its knights and armsmen to pick up a sword (or axe or lance or bow, as the case may be) and fight for their country, but they have.
