Introductions
Character’s Name ∙ Elliot of Fenrigh
Age ∙ 15
Birthdate ∙ September 24th, 185 H.E
Gender ∙Residing ∙ The Palace
Character Type ∙ Nobility
Occupation ∙ Squire
Knight Master ∙ Kenn of LindenMindset
Sexual Orientation ∙ Hetrosexual.
Overall Personality ∙ Elliot is outgoing and excitable. He can converse easily with any one, of any gender, any class and any age. Though, he often suffers from foot-in-mouth. He has a habit of saying the wrong thing, at the wrong time. He is blunt, and straight forward in conversation. If he has an opinion, he will voice it. He tries to be the life of the party all of the time, the joker, the funny guy, because he is overcompensating for a lack of self-confidence. He appears to have an endless amount of energy. No matter how many laps he runs, sit ups he does or how many times he runs through a training manoeuvre, he is always the guy who has more in the tank.
Elliot cannot stand being inactive. It is a form of torture for him. He is not interested in theory; he is interested in getting out there and getting his hands dirty. He is definitely a doer. He struggles to sit through his classes based on theory, or do his homework. While he tries his hardest to pay attention, and to concentrate, his mind has tendency to wander. In all honesty, he would rather be somewhere else. He is excellent with facts. He is able to look at a situation, break down the facts, make a decision on what should be done and execute it, very quickly. This skill means that he is wonderful in situations that require him to make decisions and act upon them. He has a “just do it and get on with it” attitude.
He is not a stranger to the little white lie, especially, if he wants to impress someone, a girl for instance. He has a flair for the dramatic and he can sometimes make things up as he goes along. Elliot appears not to care if his lies are found out. He is not lying to hurt people, or to intentionally deceive. It is part of acting tough. He is fifteen and a Squire, he is supposed to be tough. He does not think about the consequences of his actions. He really is not concerned with what could happen, but rather with what is happening. He lives in the moment.
He has strong beliefs in what is right and what is wrong, and sticks to them doggedly. He has a big heart and a lot of integrity for a fifteen year old. While his habit of not thinking things through before acting may cause him to break establishment rules, his own integrity mandates that he will not do anything which he feels to be wrong.
At times of extreme stress, emotion (frustration, sadness), or illness Elliot has an inclination to draw into himself and withdraw from others. His mood becomes quite black, and he may have a bit of a sour temper. Though, this is rare. Most of the time he is the life of the party, so to speak.
Reflection
Height ∙ He stands at 5’4 or 162 centimetres.
Overall Appearance ∙ Elliot has brown hair, with enough lighter natural highlights to make his hair a golden shade of brown. He keeps it rather unruly and mop-like, and longish for a boy. But, he absolutely refuses to cut it. His fringe, easily covers his eyes and reaches down to the tip of his nose. But, he tends to part it to keep it out of his eyes. Speaking of his eyes, they are a little different. Almond shaped, as he has Yamani in his bloodlines. And they are a golden hazel colour that fits perfectly with his hair.
Elliot has an oval shaped face with soft curves. He does not have defined features, but youthful cheeks lend definition to his face. His nose, while straight, is largish in size, but it does not look out of place. He has a wonderful smile. His lips are slightly feminine looking, in that they are full with smooth, graceful curves. His top lip shaped like the top of a love heart. He has pale skin that just simply does not tan, again, it his complexion is a call back to his Yamani heritage. Elliot really has a youthful, spirited look.
Standing at 5’4 he is not overly tall, but he is rather fit. While he is not muscular, he is well toned. He has wide shoulders, gained through his years of swinging a sword in Page training, and deceptively strong arms. His small hips, with visible, but not sunken, hip bones lead to a small buttocks that does not fill out his breeches.
When not wearing his squire uniform, Elliot dresses flamboyantly. He has many shirts to choose from. Blacks, with bright colours, flowers, plain bright coloured shirts and scarves that often do not match the rest of his outfit. He lives in breeches in the summer or long baggy legged pants during the colder months.
Backstory
Family History ∙ It is complicated. Elliot’s family is mixed racial. His great grandmother was a Yamani woman who married a nobleman from Tortall. Her father was part of an embassy sent to Tortall. They had a child, his grandmother, who was of mixed heritage. She married a Tortallan nobleman, and gave birth to three children, one being Elliot’s mother, Anna. At the age of fourteen Anna was introduced to court, where she met James, a squire. At eighteen they were married.
Family ∙ Elliot is the eldest and only son of Anna and James. Anna, originally from a small fief in country Tortall, met James during her first ball at the Palace. James of Fenrigh was a Squire at the time that he and Anna met. He wanted to finish his training before they married, so they opted for a long courtship. At eighteen they married, and at nineteen they were expecting their first child, Emily. After Emily’s birth they spent a year trying for another baby. Anna finally fell pregnant again, but lost the baby two months into the pregnancy. It took Anna two years to recover from the loss of the baby, but recover she did, and she fell pregnant and gave birth to Elliot.
Birthplace ∙ Elliot was born and raised in Corus, on fief Fenrigh, his father’s holding.
Background ∙ Born the only son of Anna and James of Fenrigh, three years and eleven months after the birth of their first child, Elliot was seen as his parents’ miracle baby. James was in and out of his life during his toddler years. When he was not at home, he was stationed at a fort on the border of Tortall and Galla. His mother fussed over him, and refused to let him out of her sight until she was satisfied that she was not going to lose him as well. It took her five years. On his first major outing away from his mother, his father took him to the Palace and introduced him to the wonders of palace life. At five years of age, he was completely taken by it.
From then on, when James was home, Elliot was never far behind him. He began to learn sword fighting from his father, at first with a small staff, and graduating to a wooden sword at seven years of age. Also when Elliot was around seven, Emily left for the temple, destined to be a priestess, or so she believed from a very early age. Her father did not approve of her choice of occupation because it wasn't the traditional path of a noblewomen, but Anna convinced him to let her follow her dreams, with the attitude of "if you give her enough rope she'll hang herself" and come to realize that it was not the path for her. Not long after, James completely shattered his leg on a training mission that left him with a severe limp and unable to perform the active duties of a Knight. Elliot could not have been happier; his father was home for good.
But, the injury left James bitter and disappointed with his lot in life. The lessons stopped, and Elliot quickly learned to leave his father alone. It was a blow to a boy’s self-confidence. From that point on Elliot dreamed of becoming a Knight, so that he could make his father proud. And at ten, he moved to the Palace to undergo his training. His years as a page were probably the hardest years of his life. He struggled through the academic side of his learning, despite the fact that he is not unintelligent, while doing well, even excelling, in the practical side. He was hazed, and he was pushed by his masters and teachers to do better.
During the war with the Yamani, Elliot's racial heritage, while not all that evident by his appearance and his personality, did cause a little bit of trouble. The Yamani features have mostly disappeared through the blending of racial heritages in his family, leaving only a slightly foreign appearance. But, it was enough to turn the hazing into bullying, which did nothing to improve his self-confidence issues. At fourteen, he sat and only just passed the testing to become a Squire. A month later he became the Squire of Knightmaster Kenn of Linden.

If a Knight consumed .5% of their rations in three days, how long would it take him to consume 40%? Elliot went over the question again in his head, absently tapping the end of his quill against the side of his desk.
How long to consume 40%? How long? He stared at the question until his eyes became unfocused and the words became a blur. Shaking his head, he tore his eyes from the parchment and leaned back against his chair. From this position, if he strained his neck and his eyes to look out the window, he could see the training yards. A page and his friend, unevenly matched in size, struck, parried and counter struck. The bigger boy was a smidge slower than the smaller, who seemed uncertain about where to place his feet.
How long?He was never going to get this question answered. He threw the pen down in frustration and stood, stretching his arms out in front of him, it felt like he’d been sitting for an entire day, even though it had only been fifteen minutes. Moving over to the chest at the foot of his bed, he pulled it open and drew out a small wooden sword that his father had given him when he had graduated from the stick at seven. He grinned as he tested the weight of it. Dipping his hand and raising it again. It was feather light compared to his real sword. He turned it over to inspect the carved blade, running his fingers over the nicks in the wood until they found his initials, just below the hilt. He had scratched them in with a barely sharp blade. The blade only slipped three times, to bite into the flesh of his palm.
Elliot fit his hand around the hilt. It barely fit now, a testament to how much he had grown. Then again, he was seven when it was made for him. He was glad that he had grown. It would be embarrassing if at fifteen he was still the size of a seven year old. As he thrust the sword, he caught sight of the coat stand out of the corner of his eye. A grin slowly spread across his face, he was a genius.
He thrust again, allowing his body weight to carry him across the room. A dull thunk, and the sword vibrating in his hand told him that he had made contact with his foe, the coat stand – his mortal enemy.
“Draw your sword, and fight like a man.” He commanded, before engaging in a simple combination of five strikes. His sword thunked rhythmically every time he made contact.
