Character Type ∙ Barzun Nobility

Sexual Orientation ∙ Heterosexual
Overall Personality ∙ Rami is a private man. He’s very protective of his thoughts, feelings and whatever’s going on inside his own mind. He doesn’t talk about himself a lot, if at all. He really only shares what he chooses to share, to whom he chooses to share it and when he chooses to share it. He often finds himself caught between wanting to express his thoughts and feelings to others and awareness of the consequences of candour. It is not because he has secrets, or anything to hide. He simply values his own privacy and respects the need for discretion. He’s generally affable to most people, but Rami can be very selective when it comes to making friends. He has a tendency to form only friendships that are deep, two-way bonds with people that he trusts enough to confide in.
He has a natural sense of intuition, which has been sharpened and perfected through his work. He knows things intuitively and instinctively, though he isn’t able to verbally explain how he knows. He’s usually right, and he knows it. It allows him to think and act quickly if a situation calls for it. He puts a lot of faith in his intuition and his instincts, and has learnt to trust them above all else. Because of this, he sometimes fails to take into account the opinions of others, and can be quite stubborn if he believes that he is right about something.
Rami is as warm as he is complex. He is incredibly, sometimes overbearingly, protective of the chosen few that are close to him. He cares about people, and is generally interested in them. He has been known to go to great, occasionally extreme lengths to protect those that he cares about, and those that are in his care. He has genuine empathy and understanding for other people. He also tends to be wary of hurting other people’s feelings, but he will not shy away from hurting their feelings if he has to do so in order to protect them, either from themselves or something else.
He has a strong value system and lives his life in accordance with what he feels is right. He does not believe in compromising his ideals in any situation. As a result, he has high expectations of himself, and of others. He’s inclined to push people to do the best that they can do and to be the best that they can be. Outgoing people and children tend to bring out a slightly different side of Rami’s personality. Around more extroverted people, Rami is more likely to share jokes, ideas, whimsical thoughts, his theories and his own opinions. Their personality makes it easier for him to open up a little more around them.
He is very devoted to his work. When it comes to work, Rami turns serious extremely quickly. He doesn’t revel in conflict, in fact he would much rather the have a dull and boring life, than a dangerous one, but he is good at it. In the royal guard, his skills with a sword are almost without equal, and he is almost as good with a dagger, and throwing knife.
Rami doesn’t really get involved in long term relationships. They’re generally one way things. Rami’s tendency to not talk about himself, and share his feelings and opinions has a negative effect on any relationship that he is involved in. The women that he’s courted have mostly found it to be frustrating more than appealing. That being said, he isn’t opposed to short term, casual relationships.
He teats women well, albeit a little sparingly with affection. He opens himself up to it, he feels it, but he doesn’t express it. He has never lifted a hand to a women, and never will. Rami would make an excellent, devoted father. It is not that he hasn’t had the opportunity to marry and have his own children, but that he has chosen to forgo it. It’s a decision that he does not regret. His job needs his full attention at the moment and it would not be fair to a wife and children.
Reflection
Height ∙ Rami stands at around 5’11 of 180 centimetres
Overall Appearance ∙ He has thick hair that is coal black in colour, with a healthy shine in bright light. He mostly keeps it cropped short so that it doesn’t get in the way, and because short hair is easier to maintain than longer hair. His hair grows quickly, and sometimes he doesn’t have the available time to cut it. When it is longer, it has a slight wave to it, about his ears and the ends of his hair. Long hair gives him a noticeably brooding look and takes the focus off of his startling eyes.
His eyes are slightly almond in shape and a little mismatched in size. However, it is barely noticeable. It isn’t unlike have a very slightly lazy eye. The color is the most startling thing about his appearance. They’re somewhere between amber, and brown. They’re a really warm russet-copper color. Rami has a long oval shaped face, that ends in a square chin with a small cleft. He has strong cheek bones that add shape, and length to his face. His high forehead is only visible when he’s sporting short hair and disappears when his hair is long. His lips are quite shapely. Both are of the same fullness. Rami’s top lip is shaped like the top of a love heart, but with gentle, wider curves. While the bottom is a little square. He has a slightly tanned, slightly olive complexion, with a thin layer of facial hair about his top lip, under his bottom lip and around his chin and jaw line.
Rami is fit, due to the nature of his job. He is a sturdy kind of fit. Through hefting and swinging a sword about, he has developed wide shoulders, and strong arms. His muscles are not overly defined. His strength is deceiving. In a way, because he doesn’t have defined muscle tone, he doesn’t look like he should be a strong as what he is. His neck is as thick as his head. He has pecks, but like the rest of his body, they’re not particularly defined. He’s a trained swordsmen, his emphasis is on being strong without being bulky.
Backstory
Family History ∙ The Nesca family is three generations old in Barzun, and many more generations older in Tyra. Rami’s grandfather, Neroli, served as a Tyran ambassador. He was accredited to the Castell’s of Barzun to operate as the official representative of Tyra. For practical reasons, he was granted Mayriss, to the South of Barzun. He simply spent more time in Barzun than in Tyra, and he did not have to worry about the running of Nesca, that responsibility had fallen to his older brother. So it made sense for him to have a holding in Barzun. There he found a wife, married and had three sons.
All of Neroli’s sons grew up and went on to become well trained members of the Barzun royal guard. When Neroli died from old age, his eldest son Kaden and his new wife Samira, took over the running of Mayriss. Kaden’s middle brother, _________ was promoted to commander of the royal guard. Kaden and his wife gave birth to their two sons, Khoury, and their youngest, Rami. And, Kaden’s younger brother Jemal took the opportunity to go to the Kyprish Isles as an ally to Rittevon of Lenman.

Birthplace ∙ Mayriss, to the south of Barzun.
Background ∙ Born the youngest son to Lord Kaden and Samira of Mayriss, gave Rami a comfortable, quite normal and relatively uneventful childhood. Lord Kaden took over the running of Mayriss when his father, Neroli passed away simply from old age. When Kaden inherited Mayriss, he inherited a coastal holding to the South of Barzun. As the Tyran representative, Neroli did not have the time to make good use of it. Kaden, with the help of his brothers and a vested interest in the armed services of Barzun, granted the royal Barzun boat builders the use of Mayriss’ port for the construction of their ships and boats. Mayriss quickly became a hub for shipwrights.
Kaden and Samira’s two sons, Khoury and Rami were born within a year of one another. The success of Mayriss saw that they had a comfortable childhood. At barely five years of age, his uncle Jamal became an ally to Rittevon of Lenmon, and shipped off to the Kyprish Isles as part of the assault. With an uncle as the commander of the royal guard and one as an ally in the Kyprish Isles, Rami had strong male role models who he grew to idolise.
As the youngest son, and free from the expectations that had been placed on his brother, Rami followed in the footsteps of his uncles. He received a basic education, which involved learning how to read and write, but with two soldier uncles, and a desire to follow in their footsteps, his main education was in swordplay. From the moment he picked up a sword, he displayed natural ability and talent, which when fostered and honed to precision by his uncle ____________ of Mayriss, became supreme skill.
There were two major deaths in his childhood. At ten years of age, they received word that his uncle Jamal had been killed in a squirmish in the Kyprish Isles. It left his aunt a widow with two children who were now fatherless. Jamal had left when Rami was barely five years old, so Rami had only a few memories of his uncle. Despite that, Jamal had become somewhat of a legend in Rami’s mind. His death was a sad affair. When Rami was twelve years of age, his heavily pregnant mother died in childbirth, taking her baby girl with her. Once Khoury and Rami had turned five, the primary responsibility of raising the boys shifted from their mother to the men of the family. As a result, Rami had never been close to his mother. Her death was a tragedy, but it did not alter the course of his life. He grieved and then continued to live.
At fifteen years of age, Rami became a soldier. However, it was clear that his skills with weapons surpassed his peers, and he was elevated to the royal guard under the command of his uncle. He excelled in his training and earned a reputation as a swordsmen and weapons master which moved him through the ranks of the royal guard. After two years working under the command of his uncle, his uncle retired from the position and was appointed as a royal advisor, in regards to all things to do with the royal guard. This caused a major shift in the leadership of the guard. ________ was promoted to head, and Rami was made second in command. A position that he's now held for a year.
