Hello! I'm Kayte - or Kyprioth, if you'd rather - your friendly, if a tad psychotic, neighborhood admin ^^;;
Activity is reasonably good, though, like all forums, that varies from member to member, and from day to day. As Lynn already noted, we don't require you be here all the time. Real life and one's own circumstances must always come first, and must always be treated with understanding, otherwise
no one's happy. I'm generally content if you can get in a couple posts a week (...I'm an underachiever like that =P), though as long as I have some idea that that will be difficult to you due to real life-type things, it's really
not an issue.
It's not a problem until you vanish without a trace for weeks at a time; as long as I can contact you in some way every couple months to make sure you're still alive, we're good XD

Ganiel, has very limited internet access and is only online once in a blue moon, but we love her anyway.
Though some days, I'm tempted to drive to her house (hey, tis only 12 hours or so ^.-) and drag her to a computer, even if the only person I know NEAR where she lives is my auntie in NH, and that's hardly 'near'.

Oh wow o_o I did not expect this many replies XD
Well, if you can handle the fact that I might not post every single day and that I will be posting on other sites simultaneously, I'd love to join =). I've seen other people get angry when they know someone is on like... two or three other forums >>;. But, like I said, this sort of rping makes me all excited. I'm not so much worried about activity as in is it fast enough or not for me, but more that will I be posting fast enough for it? =O I figure one more site can't kill me.
Is it safe to assume that Queenscove is on the coast? And has anyone claimed Pirate's Swoop? Oh! And where is Linden. I love that word... =O I should really go dig out my books and look a the maps >>;
Haha I figure I will probably join.
And I sure can PM you my site if I join. O.o It's in the process of another reno because the current system we have is... old and outdated and it's making me pull my hair out =D. But, soon I shall hopefully rectify the situation... Yay.

I would think Queenscove would be coastal. Why else would you name it "-cove"? Though TP continues to baffle me, so I wouldn't be surprised if in some later novel she puts it inland.

And to my knowledge Pirate's Swoop has not been taken so I think you'd be good there.

There's always exceptions to prove the rule = ) *rolls eyes* *sorry XD*
Pirate's Swoop is like... south... of Corus. Along the seaside. It's not too far, I think it's only a cm or a bit on the maps in the books.
As for Linden... no idea.

Welp, I hath registered. Yay. Lol. It'll probably take me a few days to even start with Senz's profile because I have to re-do his entire history for the site as his story one does not work whatsoever. Which is fine. And, if you couldn't tell, I chose Pirate's Swoop because I finally got off my lazy butt and pulled my books out of the stack to actually look at the maps. =D
Um... I think this is my last question... Honestly, I hope it is. @.@ The Gift... I imagine Senz would have it, but he's definitely not a mage in any way - I imagine he'd be more the type to be able to do small things that have the potential to cause mischief. So, I'm wondering: what things can one do with the Gift? Apart from light candles and you know... blow people up >>; *Knows that much*
You'd think I would have retained more from these books, seeing as how I read them only a couple months ago. Then again, I started reading the Circle of Magic so...

TP portrays the Gift as very flexible... and bizarre. Like on a different RPG, I know Shell and I had a Gifted couple; the husband came from a family of chandlers and his gift helped him make his candles in unbelievable shapes and the wife came from a family of Gifted florists and could grow things in short periods of time/year round. I've seen Healers, elemental mages, powerful mages who use spells and incantations.. the only thing I don't think I've seen is a mage who needs a wand or something.

Well, Senz does have magic, but it's very minor. And the way he was portrayed for story purposes was that he could change the colour of his hair and his eyes at will. Now, I don't know if that fits within the boundaries of the gift, which is why I'm asking, in part. I figure it's probably rather similar to what TP uses in the Circle of Magic, just under a different name and I believe it's less common? Didn't know about plant growth and whatnot. I think the only minor magic I ever saw in TP's books were lighting candles at will, but I could be wrong. They're very hazy right now x.x

One of the characters in Page can pretty much only use his gift to create light, and Numair can turn people into trees, indicating a range of pretty much nothing to BIIIIGTHING. Actually altering his appearance, though, would take more than a "little bit" of the gift, and I imagine it'd drain him.

=O *Nod* Yeah, I figured I'd ask because I wasn't sure if that fit within those bounds, and if it did, how much power it would actually take. So that's good - it gives me a starting point in that general area, and perhaps something to work towards at some point? Maybe? XD We'll see.
Anyway, thank you guys soooooooo much. I don't usually ask so many random questions but... Yes. Thank you so much. <3<3<3

Actually, I was under the impression that the magics in the Circle series was very different to the Gift. In Tortall, you don't hear terms like "ambient" mages. Everyone with magic has a certain amount and they can do things like storing their power in opals (hence their value) and other precious gems but I haven't heard or read of any mage that drew power from the plants or whatever, like Briar and the others, or that is dependant on what is available, if that makes sense.
I do agree that the Gift is a very diverse magic, though. You could do anything with it, from war magic to healing to doing people's hair...
Hey, a hairdresser with the Gift. Sounds awesome.

Well, what I mean is that same kind of idea - being able to light candles with a thought, being able to press plants to grow faster than they normally would. That sort of thing. Not so much how it's enacted and whatnot - I realize that much is different, lol.
Mmm well I'm hoping that after I work out my character stuffs that, at some point in the distant future, perhaps Senz can be trained to change the colour of his eyes and hair. But we shall have to see. Either way, I have a better knowledge base than I started with.

Alanna, in the Lioness series, tried to make herself grow, and found she got headaches and just tired herself. I'm sure temporary changes in appearence would work, though.

I recall that vaguely now. Gah. I read all of them in a row just a few months ago and I can only remember vague bits. x.x
XDD It's funny you say that because that would be the colour of Senz's hair if he could.
