While creating Osric (haMinch now not Naxen, sorry didn't notice the other Naxen) I realized he would be the right age for the Commander of the King's Own. Even if I don't create it now, if no one else is wanting it, Osric could become the Commander during the RP. That would be fun.

That'd be great, to have a Commander!
Although how much he'd get to RP.... XD

I think as a nobleman Osric will have plenty of opportunities to RP.

He likes to do things and will hate being told to stay behind a desk. If he accepted the position it would because his father, older brother and sister-in-law would tell him he would be a fool not to accept it. As a second son, he needs all the position and hopes for land he can get.

Okay I was dumb and left all my Pierce books at my apartment when I moved back home for the summer. While I will be collecting them, can anyone grab their copy of Squire and help me with the organization of the King's Own?
1) In Raoul's time there's three... something's. What are they called again? There's what? approx. 100 men in each?
2)How are those 100 men divided? What are the ranks again for the King's Own?
3)I know the first were usually just parading around with the King but I think we'll add at least a second, Osric wouldn't be a Knight Commander that allowed his men to sit around.

1) It's called a company, 100 men in each.
2) They're in squads of 10 men, I think. Corporal, sergeant, commander are some of the ranks. I'm not quite sure....
3) Yeah, the First was the lazy group. There'd be at least a second, IMHO. In the Protector series, the Own has been on the border for years. They're bound to have less men in their ranks than they could have had before the Immortals.

Thankies for the names now I can look it up.
So. A King's Own Company is approx 100 men. (I'm going to up to 150 for math sake) It looks like it's usually commanded by a Captain or a Major. I've never heard Pierce use the word Major though.
A Company in the real world is subdivided into Platoons which for the King's Own would be 5 platoons of 30 men. A Platoon is led by a Lieutenant.
A Platoon is subdivided further into Squads. So the King's Own would have 3 Squads of 10 men per Platoon. A Squad is led by a corporal or a sergeant.
