Overall Personality ∙ Landon has always been a “I’ll step back and follow you” kind of kid. When playing games as a child, he always let his twin lead the way. Being as passive as he is, Landon was a fairly easy target for bullies. When confronted, however, he has shown his ability to stand up for himself. Landon doesn’t appreciate being picked on or watching other receive the same treatment. While he won’t initiate a conflict, he won’t step down when one comes his way.
Making friends can be hard for Landon because he can be very shy. He’s usually not the one to start the talking, but once someone gets him going, it can be hard to stop. He doesn’t reveal much of himself right away and sometimes never, so it’s hard for people to know the true him. Landon is extremely loyal and stubborn. Once he’s got his teeth in something, he won’t give it up. If he makes friends, they are his for life unless they choose to end the relationship. On the flip side, Landon also finds it hard to see the flaws in people, especially friends. If people point them out, Landon will defend his friends even if he is wrong.
If Landon is shy around people of his own sex, then he is mostly definitely bashful in the region of the ladies. He loses his mostly cool demeanor and often acts like an idiot around girls. When it comes to balls and dancing, Landon would much rather sit on the sidelines and watch his friends. It’s not that he can’t dance, he just can’t find the courage to ask a girl. When faced with anything else, Landon can live up to the challenge, but when faced with a pretty girl and he’s speechless. The other squires tease him, but Landon is good natured about it, as he is with most things.
Being the studious child that he is, Landon likes his classes while many others don’t. He would still rather be outside any day, but doesn’t find a classroom too boring either. History interests him and so does learning in general. He is a good student, but not always the best. The most important thing is that Landon tries his hardest. He works his hardest in everything he does. Landon is also not afraid to try things and fail. He will keep working at them until he gets it right, and he doesn’t care how long that takes. Much of that perseverance comes from before his page training, so it’s likely to stick in his head for longer.
Curiosity also fuels the learning flame, as Landon is very much inquisitive. He observes, then moves closer if interested. If this happens, he is most often sucked into conversation and will gladly speak. Landon likes to ask questions and he sometimes asks them before remembering his place. Always the polite one, Landon will eventually remember and slightly freak out at the fact that he didn’t in the first place.
Reflection
Height ∙ 5’6”
Weight ∙ 127 lbs
Overall Appearance ∙ Landon is on the leaner side of things. His muscles are quite a bit less pronounced than many others, but that doesn’t deter him. Just because he doesn’t have muscles, doesn’t mean he doesn’t have strength. His body finally outgrew its awkward stage and he’s now getting some height. He’s still a bit on the short end, but is speedily catching up. Landon’s newfound size sometimes means some clumsiness on his part, but he’s learning to avoid that.
While some girls might call him cute, that is an adjective that better describes Landon’s twin. Landon still has a boyish face that makes many think he is younger than he actually is. He has jet black hair that surrounds his face and can sometimes be a bit unruly. It gets cut, but not on a regular basis. His dark brown eyes are sometimes hard to read, but they usually dance in merriment. Freckles still dot his nose but are also disappearing with age.
Being that Landon is young and not experienced in battle, he has relatively few scars and marks to speak of. He has earned a couple small scratches from training as a page and squire, but nothing overly notable. The boy does have a very handsome looking scar that runs down his back from a time when he and his brother were mock fighting. They were using sticks and Landon got the short end of it, so to speak. His brother still apologizes profusely, but they both now call it his “battle wound.”
Backstory
Family ∙
Father: Nathan of Tirrsmont (Lord of Tirrsmont; 39)
Mother: Laila of Tirrsmont (Lady of Tirrsmont; 36)
Brother: Avery of Tirrsmont (Squire; 16)
Sister: Nicole of Tirrsmont (Convent; 10)
Birthplace ∙ Tirrsmont
Background ∙ Nathan of Tirrsmont met his bride to be when he was nineteen and instantly fell in love with her. Laila took a bit more convincing, but soon learned to feel the same way. Their marriage was arranged, but their happiness was not. The couple was quite smitten with each other, much to the surprise of many. Laila had learned to be a lady at the convent, but she didn’t always act as such. She liked to take control of the situation and that is why many think the couple had children as late as they did. Luckily, four years after their marriage, at the ripe old age of twenty, Laila gave birth to twin sons. The oldest, Landon was born four minutes before Avery, making him the heir of Tirrsmont.
In the next years, many wondered if indeed the midwife was correct when she called Landon the oldest. Landon was the shyer boy who liked to stay close to his mother’s arms while Avery was the adventurous one. It was not a mistake, however and the people would soon accept their next leader. When the boys were six years old, their mother gave birth to another child: a sister. The twins were curious, but continued on in their own playing. By the time Nicole was remotely old enough to start playing with, the boys were about to be sent off to the palace for their page training. Nathan had decided that both would train to be knights seeing as neither of them possessed the Gift. Landon, as first born, would have been sent regardless.
So, at ten years old, Landon and Avery went from their home in the north to the busy streets of Corus. The boys were still close, but they now had to learn to be separable. Landon forged his way through his page years, learning everything he could and trying his best. He made his mistakes, as did everyone else, and learned to move past them. Through his brother, and also on his own, Landon made many friends. That’s how he discovered that the friends he made here would be his friends for life. His four years as a page passed quickly and soon Landon found himself being tested to become a squire. Having practiced much, the boy passed with ease. Archery was by far his best skill and fencing not far behind. Avery also passed his examinations and to the delight of both, they were made squires.
Avery had been scouted by a knight since before he the exams and quickly fell into that man’s service. It took Landon a bit longer to find his knight master, but many were impressed by his skills at the examinations and there were disputes over who should help train him. It was eventually decided that Senz of Pirate's Swoop would be his knight master. Landon liked the choice and liked the man. The two have an easy relationship and Landon would ask him for help or advice on anything. Now, at sixteen Landon is turning into a very well to do young man. His skills improve constantly, but not without practice and his knowledge is always being expanded. Like most, Landon is nervous about the Ordeal in two years, but doesn’t think about it much. He knows he can deal with it when the time comes and in the meanwhile, prepare to be the best knight, and lord, he can be.

“Landon! Come on!” a voice called to the half-sleeping boy. He was by the swimming hole with some other pages and squires on a sunny day in the summer. Landon didn’t particularly feel like swimming and told the others that he would prefer a nap. He had just settled under the tree when the voices called to him. It sounded like Avery, but Landon couldn’t be sure. He was falling closer and closer towards sleep and voices were sounding fuzzy. The squire didn’t even hear the sounds of approaching footsteps on the grass. A voice whispered in his ear, “You’re no fun. How can you sleep on a beautiful day like this?”
“Go away, Avery,” Landon murmured, recognizing his twin’s voice this time. He swatted at where he thought his brother’s face was, but missed. Avery said something else again and Landon thought it sounded a bit like “I don’t think so.” The next thing he knew, the squire was being lifted by many and dragged toward the pond. He was waking fast and couldn’t even manage a protest before he was thrown into the water. By now, Landon was fully awake and when the splash of cold hit him he winced. Wickedly, he thought of playing a prank on his brother to pay him back. Avery was the only person Landon would ever do this to and seeing that he was there, it was okay.
They expected him to surface soon after being thrown in, but Landon let himself sink. The boys on the shore must have gotten nervous because a few seconds later, there was a splash. Landon could see the bubbles and then a figure swimming towards him. It was Avery. Of course his brother would take the responsibility. Landon found himself being grabbed around the waist and pulled upwards, toward the surface. When they reached the air, Landon took a giant breath in. The oxygen that filled his lungs felt better than any other oxygen he had breathed before. Avery continued to drag him toward shore and when they finally got there, other boys had surrounded them.
“What were you thinking?” Avery gasped. “I thought you…” He couldn’t even finish his sentence, so overwhelmed was he. Landon instantly felt horrible at what he’d done and how bad he had scared his twin. He made the decision not to tell him that it was all a prank to repay his prank. It wouldn’t be right.
“Sorry,” Landon said, pulling his brother into his arms. He hugged him tight and felt Avery return the pull. “Sorry, it won’t happen again.”
