I know I'm fairly new here, but I'm afraid I must take a leave of absence. I will be risking my life in canyons and serving my state while wearing green. I leave starting tomorrow, will have a few days with possible internet access next week, then be back again at the end of the month. Enjoy July!

I will most definitely be having fun. I've heard the equipment they use to rappel down canyons is excellent. So my chances of dying are slim.

I thought I'd update here instead of making a whole new thread to proclaim my possible absence. I am having knee surgery tomorrow and am not sure how much I'll be on for the rest of the week/weekend. Chances are, not so much. I do have to write an essay, so I'll probably stop in. Just wanted to let you know, in case I disappear for a week or whatever. Don't send the SWAT team.

I've had knee troubles, but thankfully none bad enough to put me under the knife. Thank God. >.<;;

Aww, thanks. It's not really a big deal. I have Unknown Knee Problem, otherwise known as UKP. Basically, we've tried it all. Thought it was this, tried this. Didn't work. Then thought it was that, tried that. Also didn't work. So, we thought we'd give surgery a go. Woot. But thanks for the flowers and thoughts.

Wow, haha, I don't know how safe I'd feel going under the knife if they didn't know what the heck they were going to do! But I guess after dealing with something for so long, you'll want to try anything.

My problem with my knees is that I'm part of the supposed 2% of the population who has 'squinting knees' or whatever coupled with a very sharp 'q-angle' so it makes it easy for me to dislocate my knee caps. I partially dislocated my left one and got some minor cartilage damage, but nothing bad enough for surgery thank god. It aches all the time and gets gimpy, but otherwise I can't complain. I know what's wrong with it at least! lol

I always feel quite safe knowing I can sue them if they paralyse me....

Not that I actually *gasp* would, but it's enough to put even the worst surgeons (who don't faint at the sight of insides like me) in line LOL

UKP.... How very technical. Very informative and comes with a summary that every doctor can understand. It really amazes me how everyone claims we're 'modern' and 'advanced' yet we don't have labels for everything yet. Maybe that OCD streak isn't as strong as we suspected... *end random*

Yeah, I was pretty nervous right before. I was like 'what the heck am I doing here?' But once I was almost done passing out from the IV, it was all good. Everything went pretty well, I suppose. They found something that wasn't really supposed to be there and cleaned it up. There are pics, which are most definitely disgusting. I'm allowed to put weight on it and that's been alright. Still using the crutches, because it's not like taking a walk in the park. So, I am alive. Just wanted to pop by and let you know. Thanks for thinking of me.

=O Oh wow. Glad to hear you're doing alright! Geez... I've had pseudo surgery before >>;. For my teeth. I told the story in the Chatango =O. Suffice to say, the guy who did it was a moron and I woke up half way through. Makes me not want to get my wisdom teeth removed because it's like... will they screw up again, or does my body just resist the anesthesia? Although they used laughing gas on me.

One of my sisters was going to have her wisdom teeth removed, but pretty soon after administering the anesthesia, they noticed that she wasn't really breathing. In the end she was all right, but she didn't go back again to get the removed.

*shudders* Thanks for not sharing any of this ahead of time. I really would have freaked out. Waking up...not breathing....not my sort of thing. I probably would have actually managed to pass out if I thought about that.
