To become a knight, does a character HAVE to be born Noble. I'm curious because of the way I would like to do my character- but I'd rather not show up with it just to be turned down because I did something that would have been litterally impossible.

Yes, as far as I know one has to be nobleborn to try for one's shield. At least in TP's world.

Glad I asked then-hm now how to compensate.

I have another question:
Could a Yamani possible be a 'noble' in Tortall? Or are the Racial Tensions too high at the moment?

Tensions are really only high in the city proper; we do currently have a Yamani noblewoman in the palace.

thank you very much for the information- now I have everything I need to actually finish my character...

But you'd have to be a land holding noblemen (in Tortall) to be a Tortallan noble. However, your character could be like mine, Aurelia, and be prepared to have relinquished all ties and loyalties to their native country to serve Tortall.

Aeris's father grew up in Tortall- his parents did not. Nor did her mother OR her parents.
Aeris was born in the Yamani Isles- but only lived their six years of her life.
I think that she would be willing to have relinquished everything.

I think that'll be okay = )

Oh. I was assuming the question was regarding Yamani nobility visiting Tortall.
